In July 2002 Discover Scuba Ltd was born. We formed this PADI dive school due to the huge demand we were constantly receiving form people who were looking for a reliable source of Scuba Dive training at really competitive prices from experienced professionals.
At the beginning we only had a handful of quality Scubapro dive equipment ( 4 sets in total) and we had to borrow classroom space from friendly companies whom offered us there offices as classrooms in the evenings in order that we could teach our courses. Since then Discover Scuba has grown considerably.
We now use Marian College for all our classroom and swimming pool training requirements.We use state of the art training aids from laptop computers, projectors, DVD training videos and much more.
Our dive school is equipped with 20 full sets of of the latest Mares branded scuba gear, to be expanded later this year,and we have our own purpose built trailer to store and carry our equipment in.
Recently, we have installed our own air compressor and we can now fill bottles to 300bar.
We use the PADI system of diver education. PADI are the largest dive training organisation in the world today having qualified over 10 million divers worldwide. To find out more about PADI please visit their web site at www.padi.com.
David Bourke
Is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer & Emergency First Response Instructor. David's specialties are Deep, Dry suit, Boat, Underwater Navigation and Wreck. David is also a qualified to ISA powerboat level 1 & 2. David has enjoyed diving since the mid 1990s and has dived in many wonderful places around the world - Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Thailand, Maldives and not forgetting some of the best diving available in Ireland.
David has a tremendous passion for diving and particularly enjoys sharing his love of diving by teaching people in the underwater |
Arthur FitzPatrick
Is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer & Emergency First Response Instructor. His specialties are in deep, wreck, drift, boat, navigation and dry suit diving. Arthur is also a qualified ISA powerboat level 2 cox and holds a coastal skipper rating. Arthur has been scuba diving since 1995. In that time he has dived all over the world (Tobago, Cayman Islands, Bahamas in the Caribbean, Mombasa in the Indian Ocean, Portugal & Ireland in Europe. Arthur particularly loves wreck diving and large marine life such as sharks. |
John Peare
Is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, Emergency First Response Instructor and holds PADI specialty dive rating for wreck, deep, drift, navigation and dry suit diving. John is also ISA powerboat level 1 & 2 Instructor and holds a coastal skipper rating. He is also a CFT Mon 2 Instructor. John has been scuba diving for more years than he can remember and has dived all around the Irish Coastline. He has dived extensively throughout the world and is a great man for the stories, especially anything to do with shipwrecks. You are most likely to come across John underwater rather than above it.. |
Jerry Collins
Is a PADI Open Water Dive Instructor and Emergency First Response Instructor. Jerry has dived throughout Ireland and abroad. He particularly likes cold water diving |

Gemma Hooper
Gemma is our only female open water scuba instructor. She has been a water sports enthusiast from an early age & began diving while travelling & working in Australia in 1995. She has dived extensively throughout the world including Fiji, Phillipines, South Africa, Caribbean, Canary Islands Europe & of course Ireland. Having completed her Dive Master level in Cyprus she went on to become an Open Water Scuba Instructor on the good ol' south coast of Ireland. She is also an EFR instructor for Infant/Child/Adult care.
Gemma has a real love of water & diving & enjoys the thrill of seeing others discover the fun & adventure of diving.
